What you enter
You can use PickMinded without an account. To find a Mac, you can provide your work, budget, portability needs and connected displays. Do not enter names, contact details, confidential company information or other personal information that is not needed for a recommendation.
The country you choose determines the catalog, currency and buying options. Apple US configuration prices are in USD before sales tax. Switching countries does not convert your budget or transfer your answers to the other market.
Progress in this browser
To let you continue later, we save your structured answers, question position, earlier steps and a random recommendation session identifier in this browser. Progress is kept separately for each country and language. It expires seven days after its last save and is removed on your next visit. You can also delete it with “Start over” or “Clear and start over,” or by clearing this site’s browser data.
This storage does not contain your conversation text, unfinished drafts, AI explanations, product prices or API keys. When you resume, the server validates the saved answers and rebuilds the recommendation from its current catalog. Going back does not reset AI request limits.
We also keep a random generation marker so an older tab cannot restore deleted answers or overwrite a newly started recommendation. Clearing progress removes the answers and the session association, leaving a new marker with no answers in it.
AI interviews
When the AI interview is enabled, your latest message and normalized recommendation conditions are sent to OpenRouter and its connected model provider. Requests include a setting that disables storage. The AI only helps interpret your needs. The service’s catalog and rules determine products, configurations, prices and final rankings.
Service measurements
When quality measurement is enabled, we collect normalized events such as random visit and recommendation identifiers, chosen conditions, question and product IDs, completion, comparisons, purchase-link clicks, selected feedback categories and response times. Events include the selected market, language, currency and the data and application versions used. Acquisition information is limited to predefined categories such as search, social or guide. These records exclude conversation text, raw AI responses, search terms, full referral URLs, arbitrary campaign strings and account details.
File-based records are retained for at most 30 days. If Vercel runtime logs are used, the hosting platform controls retention, which varies by plan from one hour to a maximum of 30 days. Exported records are used for quality review and deleted within 30 days.
This deployment sends normalized service measurements to PostHog. We do not use session recordings or create user profiles, and we do not send the user’s IP address in events. PostHog retention depends on the project plan and policy rollout: its current default periods are one year for free plans and seven years for paid plans. Automatic deletion may not yet apply to a project. The app’s 30-day file retention setting does not control PostHog storage. Read PostHog’s retention policy.
Abuse prevention
To limit excessive production AI requests, we store hashed session identifiers and IP addresses, request counts and expiry information in Upstash Redis. Session records last up to 24 hours, IP records up to ten minutes and the global request counter up to one hour. We do not send messages or raw AI responses to this store. This processing also applies when quality measurement is disabled.
